This "news"
page endevours to keep you folk that don't really care up to date about what I
am up to and what my plans are for future events. I'll try and keep this as up
to date as possible, but, as always, it never turns out that way... 03/09/2003 - Well I've done alot since we last spoke. Been on a race day and to two days at the test match (see pictures). Also I've been to Amsterdam on my brothers stag doo. I can't tell you anything about that, it's the law of the stag! I've signed for a room in East Didsbury in Manchester on fog lane. The house is huge and so is my room. It's in a shared house and I don't know the people yet. I'm sure that they'll be nice. I move in on the 16th of september. Peter's wedding is approaching. On the 13th of the 9th 2003 Peter Harold Littler will marry Flora ? McErlane and we'll all celebrate and rejoyce. I can't wait it should be alot of fun, and it'll make my mum very happy. Andrea is moving down to London this coming weekend. She's living in Hammersmith and working for a large PR company with such elustrious clients as Oracle and Andrews the Bakers. 06/08/2003 - Just got back from the states. We went to Ground Zero and saw the two big holes in the ground. The plans for the new building look really impressive. I went to Armish country in Lancaster County PA. They all drive around in horse and traps and wear clothes with no buttons. They are very original and interesting. The first class flight was very nice. The freshly cooked steak, haagen das ice cream and freshly baked cookies all topped off a lovely flight. Andrea has got a job in London in a fabulous PR company, so I'm going to be left all on my own in Manchester. I'm now looking for a new flat, perhaps in Didsbury (where the people in Cold Feet lived) or perhaps with my friend Will. In the mean time I'm comuting in from huddersfield on the train... Fun... 14/07/2003 - Off to the states in a week, so if you want to get hold of me then e-mail is probably best. E-mail [email protected] and that should find me. Andrea got a 2:1 in her degree (Hispanic Studies) and we're all very proud of her, she worked very hard. She also got a distinction in spoken Portugesse (Spelt wrong), which was unexpected. She is now in South America for six weeks having an adventure with her sister. She's taking in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, the works. 07/07/2003 - I'm writing a crazy end of first year report for my PhD. My two talks went well, I think, I wasn't in the audience. It's well scary! I'm off to the states in a week, leaving blighty for dust. I'm now back in huddersfield but working solidly so don't get time to go and meet the gang. Jiggs and Twigg, hang in there, I'll be round for a game of street football soon enough! 28/5/2003 - Been to Dublin and had a great time with family. We played a spot of golf and sampled Guiness from the Guiness brewery sky bar overlooking the city. We went on a literary pub crawl and generally soaked up the Irish atmosphere. I have got 2 talks coming up so I'm desperately trying to get some interesting results to show off. 7/5/2003 - My dad and I have started up a new business called UsedPenguin.com, which is a limited company. It aims to deal in second hand penguin books, of which we have thousands. 29/4/2003 - The new Holidays Page is up. It details my trips and adventures over the past few years. 28/4/2003 - Holiday plans have been confirmed to fly to New Jersey/New York 1st class again to take in the sights and have a thoroughly good time with parents in my Dads new company flat. I'm also travelling to dublin to see my Half-Brother Peter and his family with my full brother Peter and our family (Confused, so am I), which I'm excited about. I fly out to dublin on the 16th of May, returning on the 18th and fly out to New York on the 16th of July returning on the 30th. 28/4/2003 - Andrea and I are celebrating (kind of) our 3.5 year demi-aniversary. What a long time. She's still as beautiful as the first day I laid eyes on her, but her bum has gone slightly downhill ;-) Had a nice time over easter seeing John and Twigg and Parents. Serveral pints of good Yorkshire ale were consumed. 19/3/2003 - Photos of Christians fabulous fancy dress party are up, with me in an Optimus prime costume that I made..! 28/2/2003 - The Second Galleries Competition is now online. The Top Trumps Character section has got four starting entries, each trying to claim the title of Best in Show! Which has the fastest top speed, greatest fear factor or most destructive superpower? 26/2/2003 - We have a winner in the hand-drawn monkey competition! And the winner is Susan Kenedy with her fabulous "Monkey Magic". Sue will now receive her much sort after prize: an Iced Bun from Andrew's the Bakers. Well done Mrs Kenedy! 17/2/2003 - Birthday celebrations went well, out with family to a nice pub on the 10th, and then out with friends the day after for a few drinks. 10/2/2003 - It's my birthday! Happy birthday to me! 22 today! 6/2/2003 - The first votes are in for the hand drawn monkey contest, although it's not that serious. Sue's encapsulation of a monkey entitled Monkey Magic is making the early running. The new york photos are now up. My work site biochemist.org.uk has had a face lift. 31/1/2003 - I had the very scary experience of presenting a scientific paper to the bioinformatics group, but it went ok. A new galleries page has been added and hopefully i'll be adding the new york photos page to the new baby photos one. Go to the galleries page and vote for your favourite monkey. Vote for mine, it's the one with the bowler hat. 18/1/2003 - Started back after Christmas and I intend to try alot harder to discover the truths behind protein domain interactions. Andrea has a Brace on her teeth to close some gaps, so I'm looking forward to the result. The Photo page has been done and the website has been generally updated. 25/12/2002 - Lovely Christmas with all the family, I got a Liverpool shirt and a quality DVD player (which lights up blue). Most of the presents were opened on the christmas eve, so Peter could be there. 1/10/2002 - PhD started at UMIST, a bit scary, but the first pay check in, woohoo! 12/9/2002 - New York was great, although most of our time was spent in the very pretty and wealthy New Jersey. Empire state was visited, as was dunking donuts and the Gogenhiem(spelling error possible). 1st Class, for those of you who haven't flown the executive way was amazing. Freshly baked cookies, ice cream sundaes, endless drinks, endless legroom, the works... Anyway, good times had by all. 11/8/2002 - Staying at home over the summer and working for inclusive technology ltd. I'm going to New York, First Class on a work/holiday to see the great city that my dad has set up offices near, over the river in New Jersey. When I come back I will be moving into my new flat and starting my PhD project at UMIST, investigating protein domain interactions. 19/7/2002 - Got back from 2 weeks holiday in Italy just north of the historic city of rome (photos pending). Stayed in a fabulous villa with table tennis, snooker, pool, mini golf, archery, pool, 3 barbecues... the works, all privately owned. Trips to venice and florence topped off a great holiday. 4/7/2002 - Graduated from UMIST with a 1st Class Hons degree in Biochemistry with applied molecular biology. Very happy but a very hot and parent oriented day. |
